Default A good mic preamp for digi002

I wanted to know some good suggestions on a nice tube mic preamp... The one im thinking about getting is the Avalon VT737SP or the Eureka... I do hip hop and occasional R&B and I want to get that nice warm sound with my vocal that I think I can achieve only through an analog hardware piece of equiptment and not digital....

Any kind of Mic pre? I am getting one of these:

Neve Portico

It is getting RAVE reviews!

Hope this helps.

Sebatron seconded. I have one of the four channel Sebatrons and it's a beautiful piece of gear.

i had a question.

if u're gonna use an external preamp on a mic and go out from the preamp into Ch.1, does the digi002 preamp on that channel cancel out, or does it stay on?
or...is there a way to turn OFF the digi002 preamp if u're gonna use a standalone preamp?

it's really been buggin...

Chris,

you would either run your outboard pre in via lightpipe into the 002 or use one of the 4 TRS insert jacks above the XLR jacks on the 002 to input instead of going through the 002 pre's on the XLR jacks I believe.

yes, 2 channels for $1440. usually Neve strips go for much more depending on what you get into. it is a very high end pre that is very worth it though if you can afford it.

hey guys...does the preamp take effect to what's selected (line/inst or mic) or is it only applied to the XLR input?
