Default ABBA Records Again

According to a link on the Drudge Report, the Swedish group ABBA has recorded 2 new songs, after breaking up over 30 years ago.

I was never a huge fan of disco music, but they did have a few catchy tunes back in the day.

They just had a story on the new songs on BBC world news. They showed a video clip of them from the 1970's. Full disco outfits! They said the new songs will be performed "live" by digital avatars of the members in concert. Kind of odd.

LOL a quartet of 65-70 year olds making music after 30 years LOL

Can't wait to hear this and have a laugh!! They quit when they were at their peak so why this reunion when all of them are the age of retirement

Like Bjφrn and Benny haven't got enough on their plates with biggest musicals in the world and hotels being built etc etc etc ... ah well ... they sure had a "few" hundred good songs hehe

At least their music is still remembered 30 years after, not like most today's $pop$ stars who are there to serve a purpose far away from entertainment and last as much as their teen age.

As a teenager I very much disliked ABBA, they just weren't cool among the Rock crowd!

Years later I listened to them again and was swayed to at least show some respect for their talent. The arrangement of their songs along with catchy hooks and melodies is second to none IMHO...up there with the likes of the Beatles, Bee Gees, Earth Wind & Fire etc.

I'll be interested in hearing their new songs. Will I buy them....I doubt it, but I admire anyone who can sell as many records as they have.

Your comparison to the BeeGees is a good one. When they were doing the disco thing with Saturday Night Fever, I really didn't like them at all. Now, if I listen to any of their songs from that era, I can instantly recognize the song. Much better than any of the current "pop" singers. In fact, if you put together a playlist of top ABBA, BeeGees, and Justin Bieber songs, I could probably identify all of the ABBA and BeeGee songs and zero of the Bieber songs (or substitute any other current pop "star" with the same result).

Yeh they're calling them 'Abbatars"

"You are the dancing queen
dancing queen Only seventy"

The arrangements and production of great songs along with those voices was excellent. Weren't they one of the first to do the varispeed thingy on the double tracked vocals?

Hey, their songs were very well written and produced. They were a highly successful group in their day and I always enjoyed listening to them as a kid, even though I was more into rock. I don't see them anywhere near comparable to the Beatles, but if they want to reunite and people are dying for a reunion, then why not??
