Default 001 to a Dell Laptop...help?

How do I hook up the 001 PCI card to a new Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop? I know I need a converter or something... I know its a dumb question... couldnt find the answer.... please help

disregard that last post, you need to purchase an external PCI slot. although im not sure of the compatibility issues, you can get them here. maybe someone with a further extent of knowledge on this could lend an ear...rail?

Sorry, - it wont work, - unless something have changed radically (and I dont think it has..), - lots of users wanted that slution when the 001 was at its peak but it simply wont work, and yes, you will run into compabilety issues...

Actually you can... Ditto on what nightshadecrisis said, but here is the link to the Digidesign approved Magma CardBus-to- PCI Expansion System. If you do a search on the Digidesign site you will additional info. This solution must not have made it's way to our friends across the Atlantic yet.

Yea but the prices for those Magma Chasis are incredibly rediculous..I can see then being a few hundred bucks AT MOST!!! It's WAY WAY more cost effective to sell your001 rig for 5 bills and put in another 6 or so to buy a 002 rack.
