Default $300 a year to collaborate on 10 songs at a time?

$300 a year to collaborate on 10 songs at a time? Add $399 "to stay current" (in reality a beta test program) and you get a yearly bill of $699 for PT HD collaboration...

Unless this $300 plan will be included for Pro Tools HD subscribers?

Is current Upgrade Plan required for using Cloud Collaboration or can we skip paying $399 a year and just stick to $300 a year for Cloud only?

With a perpetual license you could stick to 12.5, say and then only pay the monthly cloud collab plan (without having the annual upgrade plan). But there will be phase 2 improvements on Collab for Pro Tools.

I hope avid doesn't focus only on cloud collab now, I only renewed my annual up plan to get "other" new features, but I won't buy the cloud collaboration.

Hi Tom,

Am I dreaming or from the first previews of CC wasn't there supposed to be live streaming to other devices like iPad / iPhone etc for approvals? As a film composer that would be very useful to me, to be able to stream a preview to a director or collaborator of the timeline I'm working on, with video, as well as chat. Big time saver.

Also recording directly over the net to the timeline, along the lines of source connect would be pretty cool.

Also the archiving feature for sessions and projects would be great, to be able to archive the whole session using the lossless compression and bundle it all into a single archive file that could be extracted to the full session at a later date would be fantastic.

:)

It's funny. All these companies going subscription really love to make it seem cheap. But by the time you subscribe to all your favorite things (which most you have no choice not to if you want to use it), you monthly expenses are skyrocketing. Some of my personal monthly subscriptions for "non-essential" items are as follows:

Website Hosting: $20
Soundcloud Pro: $7
Netflix: $12
Hulu: $12
Adobe CC: $10
Apple Music Family: $15
Apple 50GB Storage: $1

All that is an extra $77 per month on top of regular bills, which is a whopping $924 per year.

Then you add on another $99 or $199 for Pro Tools Native EDU/Non-EDU. And another $120 for the minimum Avid cloud account. Xbox Live for another $60. Then add on cable and internet and you're pushing $1500 per year on subscriptions.

And I know some of you guys probably have even more than me. Then if you want to add on some Slate Digital, another $300 per year. Add more on if you want to keep your Waves up to date.

Not saying the companies are responsible for how we budget our subscriptions, but damn, they add up quickly.

I too thought that this was a missed opportunity to finally do something for the HD users who have received nothing new beyond what the regular Pro Tools users have received, yet pay much higher yearly subscriptions. It would have been a nice gesture to have included even the 20GB plan as part of their subscription. It continually gets harder and harder to see how Pro Tools HD costs are justifiable.
