Default Mbox firmware

I am transferring to a new laptop and I can't get the Mbox firmware to run. Any ideas?

You shouldn't need to update the firmware. Why are you trying?

If the PT software is installed, the firmware updater is located at: C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools\Pro Tools Utilities\MboxfirmwareUpdater.exe

You really shouldn't need to run it, though.

I ran firmware updater and had nothing but trouble. It locked up the Mbox and my PC wouldn't recognize the hardware or software. I ended up on the phone for over an hour with Digidesign tech support. Now I need to reinstall WinXP & PT. My advice, don't run Firmware Updater.

You had to reinstall XP?
There must be a less drastic fix
