Default Bounce doesn\'t work when use Automation: Why?

I'm new to automation. I can't make it work in the final step of bouncing. That is, I record a track, then click the Automation mode button and choose Auto Write. Then I play back and adjust the faders for volume and then stop. Then I click the Automation mode and change it to Auto Read. I then play back and the automation works perfectly. But then I proceed to bounce to produce a wave file, and at the end of the process before getting the wave file, I get an error message: "Could not complete "Bounce to Disk" command because could not access file because the file is being used by another process (32)."

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.. Tom
