Default Two drives in the G5/ PT 8.

I hope all had a nice Holiday. First off this is in regard to my g5 set up. I am wondering if I can load PT 8 and OS 10.5.5 on a second drive and have it work. I would like to try both and see how it works before completely making the change. As the rest of my band is on 7.3.1 I am worried about compatibility with there version and mine. I know 8 will open but will 7 open 8? This would give me the chance to work with both versions and then do the final mixes in 8. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am trying to get the most out of the old g5 so please understand.

8.03 will NOT run on a G5. 8.01 is the last version of ProTools for PPC Macs.

A lot of people have had major issues with 8.01, so you may want to stick with 8.0 and run the cs3 update. Again, this will be the LAST version of 8 you will be able to load and run on your G5.

If I were you, I'd stick with what's working, or at least get to v7.4.2, and wait until you can replace your G5 with a MacPro.

I would only go to PT 8.0. I heard the same thing about 8.0.1. I can get OS 10.5.6. As I just want to try PT 8 as well as make a move to OS 10.5. I am only making small steps as my current system is very stable. I just don't want to get to far behind in PT features and improvements. Thanks.
