I'll have some of whatever you're smoking ;-)

(Compared to the PT11 chart)

The number of instrument tracks has been halved for both Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD.

Can anyone shine any light on this?

Thanks
I have confirmation that the Instruments Tracks listings are a typo which will hopefully get corrected asap.

Pro Tools 12 and Pro Tools HD 12 will have the same Instrument Track numbers as Pro Tools 11, when they were doubled from the number in Pro Tools 10.

This is from the What’s New in Pro Tools 11.pdf...
Increased Instrument Track Count
Pro Tools 11 supports up to 128 Instrument tracks.
Pro Tools HD 11 supports up to 256 Instrument tracks.

Same numbers in Pro Tools 12.

I would just like to chime in and mention that there is some precedence for these kinds of typos. I found a very similar typo for PT10:

A "typo"? I'm suspicious.

More likely that marketing decision was quickly reversed after the negative feedback it generated. I'm sure that within the PT application code changing the number of instrument tracks is simply changing a configuration setting that controls the maximum number of tracks. So for a developer it's literally a 2-second code change. Marketing says make it 128 again. Change the number 64 in the config file to 128. Done.

Come on

Why in hell would Avid do this on purpose? Do you think that they don't have more inportant issues to deal with than secretly planning this rediculous conspiracy theorie of yours?

Everything is not conspiracies and people at Avid are human beings and as clearly documented everywhere humans make mistakes and correct accordingly. Its just life!

Just wait until EVERYTHING is clear and release notes inplace instead of making such a HUGE issue of every detail you find "odd"

If this were the case, then Avid would have made it so Pro Control and Control 24 would work in 11.

Seriously, it seems they do what they want do and can weather whatever storm it brings. That's been the recent history.
