I am running PT 2018.4 on a 2009 4,1 cMP. I did upgrade the firmware to 5,1 and am using OS 10.13.4. So I am on an older machine, but I have a single X5690 6-core CPU that I installed because my single 4-core CPU was deff limiting. I went from basically one of the slowest stock CPUs to the fastest, most powerful CPU that is compatible with the 4,1 and 5,1 Mac Pros. I also have 48GB RAM. These machines though not officially supported are still quite capable of running modern PT versions

Just don’t expect to be able to use too many or too advanced plug-ins per channel or your 2.4GHz cores will choke. (Single core performance is somewhat limited with this machine.)
Maybe it’s the difference between HDX and Native, but 2018.4 is running great in my souped up Mac Pro 5,1.
