automatic delay compensation question
Is the delay reading of a plugin in pro tools 10 still meant to be the same when ADC is on or should it be zero e.g. I have a lexicon reverb plugin that incurs a delay of 32 and when ADC it still says there is a delay of 32 in the track?
The reason I ask is because after lining up two tracks (seperate mics on a guitar cab) to sound good, when I have the plugin on one of the tracks (bypassed)... the alignment goes off (i.e. there is a delay between the tracks and I hear comb filtering effect). ADC should be compensating for this ? I tried setting the ADC to short and long and had the same problem. |

Re: automatic delay compensation question
ADC can't change the built in delay of the plugin. All it does is delay the other tracks the same amount to match it.

Re: automatic delay compensation question
Sounds like a good reason to put delay and reverb plugins on AUX tracks and send to them, keeping them set to 100% wet mix. That way you never combine dry signal from 2 tracks, avoiding any comb filtering.

Re: automatic delay compensation question
It's supposed to compensate for any inserted plugs as well so it should be bumping the other tracks back. Another thing is I find that with certain plugs, I have to completely take them out of the chain so there is no latency. If I just bypass, I still get the latency from the plug. If I remember right, one plug may have even caused a latency while in an inactive state!
