Default Damn! Miss my mix 24!

So I got to hear some of my old mixes that I did on a very standard Mix 24 system last night, the old 888/24 with a vintech pre.

Damn, they still sound good from 2004 ish.

I really wonder about how much better the new stuff actually is.

:)
Am I delusional or did they sound that good. ??

Ps. I never really got into the converters argument, there has certainly been many a great album on the mix systems, perhaps my ears are buggered now.

What?? Personally, I think a solid mix of a great song/performance will transcend the medium. After all, how many hits were done on black-face ADAT machines Then, good engineers will get good sound, no matter what they're working with

I think most of the TDM plugins from the MIX era were easier to use. Maybe it was just because there were fewer choices and you had to pay more, so you spent more time getting to know a plugin. I do still keep a functional MIX rig just so I can use soundblender.

Sorry, my state-of-the-industry dark sarcasm was thick that day.
