Default 001 recording start takes forever

Hey, I have a 001 running off of a G4 Titanium via a Magma CB2 expansion chassis using a Glyph compansion (firewire) as my tracking drive. Playback is fine. I hit the spacebar and it goes even with 18+ tracks. Recording though, even in a session with no other audio, it takes PT quite awhile to start recording, maybe as much as 30 seconds after I tell it to record. It didn't used to do this, so I imagine I have switched some button somewhere. I'm in low latency mode, but I belive that's for monitoring anyway, and wouldn't have an impact on this. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Jeff

If you press on the transport the Rec button, then you press the Alt/Option key while clicking the Play button, you'll experiment the pause without Pro Tools actually starting to record and you'll see your system will be unresponsive for a few seocnds. When the pause is over, your system will be back, then just press Play or the spacebar and Pro Tools will start to record instantly.

oh yeah make sure your not in quickpunch. when your in quick your essentially recording double the amount of tracks your actually recording. this bogs you down big time.

Have a look at your preferences. There is a setting for how many minutes to give to recording and I think it's 60 by default.try reducing this to 15mins or so
hope this helps

try adjusting your buffer setting in your hardware setup
it's default to 2 but anything higher will make recording really slow anything less will make you have HD cannot keep up errors

Yeah, I tried playing with the DAE buffer settings last night. I had it set to zero, but I'll have to try some other settings. Thanks
