Default JV-1080 or JV-2080, which is better to go for...??

Hi, I want to pick up one of these Roland sound modules, fo some bread/butter sounds. But which one is better to go for. The JV-2080 seems to be going for £50 (=approx $90) more than the JV-1080, but is it worth it? I have heard somewhere that sonically the JV-1080 sounds slight better.

Any views?
Thanks

i think the jv 1010 has both of those sound sets. you can pick that up for cheap also. then you get the best of both...plus it a half rack if you use it on the go.

thank you halfguard, but the JV1010 is not quite what I am looking for. I want to have the expansion options because I want to get some of the expansion boards. I know that the JV2080 has all the presets of the JV1080, plus one extra bank (E). Then, the JV1010 has the session board built in but few expansion options. I don't care too much for bank (E) in the JV2080, so just want to know if I should get the JV01080 instead. I can always get the session board later. The JV-2080 does however have three fx where the JV1080 has just one, but do I really need that? Also the JV2080 has expansion for 8 boards....so on and so on. Confused ?

Come on people, I thought these were industry standard modules? Does no-one have them here?

i have a JV1010 with an SRJV expansion board the inclused session sound set is great aswell - not the best sound module but does the job

from what i know of the all the JV series modules they have the same basic sound set, its just some of the extras but they can all be found on an expansion board
the main drawback with the 1010 is the display but if you can get past that its a good little module

JV 1080/2080 , i used to have a JV 1080 and the 2080 was the better and more expensive version, i think more expandable as well. Also it had a bigger screen.

i remember selling mine, and it did not loose much in Value, alot of poeple have them, for, like you say "bread and butter sounds"

Not sure if it had more outputs

That's not very nice, Mr.Funk.

You're confusing yourself more than you need to, and draggin' some helpful DUC peeps down with your ship. Not cool. Also, you just don't call people 'idiots' around here, m'kay?

I think you've answered your own question. I've owned a 1080, an XP-30, and now I have the XV-5050 and you know what, they all sound pretty much the same. The 5050 sounds a bit crisper because of newer AD/DA chip and has a few newer sounds, but other than that, it's the same damn Roland sound set we've heard countless times and have grown fond of. You want the expansion boards? Just get the 2080 and make some music for cryin' out loud. Who cares if you don't want the E bank, it's there, deal with it. As for sound quality, believe me, it's gonna be very negligible if based on "I read somewhere the 1010 might sound better than a 1080". Some will argue, but YMMV.

Personally I haven't heard any sonic difference between the two (but honestly haven't done critical A-B listening tests).. basically if you want the extra slots available.. get the 2080.. otherwise save yourself some money.

Oh , did I really say that . I'm sorry I take it back. I Didn't mean it...sorry bb_aus!!! I meant it lightly, and no offense intended at all!!

And thanks for all your inputs guys. There's not a lot of difference betwwen the 2 I see. Just the extra expansion. I thought there might be someone jumping out at me saying that one was obviously better than the other, that's all.

Anyhow, thanks for the replies everyone.
