I hope you're right that they know. As an aside, if the powers-that-be would just let us know that they are aware of the problems we have, the amount of good will generated would be staggering. Jim Morris Morrisound Recording Tampa, FL |

... and I thought this was a "normal" occurrence. I simply accepted the unacceptable. Silly me!

same issue here, using HDX
when duplicating tracks sometimes the delay compensation goes whack and there is a massive delay on the input. Sometimes the delay only shows up while transport is running (either input monitor or record mode), sometimes the delay is already there when transport is not running. The solution is for me to close the session and reload. This is clearly a bug, which shows up once or twice per day, running long sessions (8-12h) in the studio. Usually the talent doesn't realise it immediately and I have to ask them over talkback if they notice anything strange on their headphone monitoring. This is usually after three wasted crappy takes because musicians have had no control over timing. As the ProTools operator there is nothing else that will tell you something is off. Low latency monitoring in complex sessions is for me the main advantage of HDX over native systems and this bug makes me look like an amateur who has no control over his studio technology. Please AVID provide a firmware update that will fix this issue! |

Made a quick search and there do not seem to be any report made for that bug on Ideascale.

Re: HDX Latency
Slightly off topic.
We are having similar issues in all our recording suites with PT 11.3.1. and the HD Native cards. Our core business is lip sync dubbing and we've only noticed it when doing vocal recordings or other music work. As a test we've recorded a click internal. We then played it back in the live room via fold back (speaker) and re-recorded the signal (closed mic) on a separate track in Pro Tools again. In PT 10.3.9 it seems to work fine In PT 11.3.1 it is way off This test was executed with delay compensation on and off. But no change though. Very frustrating....

Re: HDX Latency
that is interesting, thanks for posting.
I went from PT10 on HD to PT11 on HDX so I can't really check if this problem was there on PT10 on my setup... |

Re: HDX Latency
We've now tried the same test session (see above) using an HDX card instead of the HD Native card and surprise, surprise it works.
Looks like we have to upgrade our recording suites to HDX in order to produce consistent recordings without any delay and latency in printing. Not very amusing....

Re: HDX Latency
Dear Avid,
We need you to evaluate the problems we face using your systems in a more professional manner. Your choices of what to respond to in terms of bug fixes and feature enhancements and new hardware has to be focused on what a professional user needs to be using the best daw in the world. Most often this means making your tools to make our sessions easier and lovely sounding. If we are using (buying) your most expensive systems with tremendous power for processing and connectivity and yet they exhibit basic time alignment flaws and inconsistencies you are failing us. To not respond publicly in this very old and long forum with suggestions, acknowledgements and explanations is a fatal character flaw. We need you to step up. Please do so ....so we can be proud PTusers. For me this is crucial. I'm a pro engineer and I run a pro tools user group and teach your software to college students and have been using your awesome tools since sound designer. We need your help! Please leave the avid everywhere, subscription changes, s6 roll out stuff far behind these crucial basic fixes. Give us stable working environment with perfect time alignment. Give us basic pro features like rendering all tracks at the end of sessions. Give us headphones with no delays. Give us unlimited delay comp when mixing. Give us self testing hardware delays adjustments for any hardware. Fix the silly sync hd behaviors that annoy all of us. You want our devotion for ever....give us the crucial necessities. Thanks, Dan
