Angry Assertion error when trying to import a 5.1 mov file

I get the following assertion error when importing the 5.1 audio portion of a 5.1 mov file. I have several .mov files that have 5.1 information. Can anyone decipher it?

Could not complete your request because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/ws.ProTools_10.0.1/AlturaPorts/NewFileLibs/FileFormat/MacBuild/../../FF/Audio/Processing/FF_AudioProcessReadFiles.cpp",line 283.

What format do your recommend I convert it to for pro tools to be able to play it and open all of the 5.1 (6) channels?

I know but I want to make sure that I get all of the 6 channels as opposed to a stereo or mono file. What program would you recommend to export all of the 6 channels?

I was told that Quicktime Pro will allow me to do it however I dont know how to do it.

Mac the Ripper doesnt work. Isnt there a program that can open a Mov file and read its audio channels and export them?
