Default Cross Platform Mac/Win

Does anybody know if I can edit a Mac pro-tools 5.0.1 session on a 001 Windows 5.1 system?
I was thinking of having the session file emailed to someone with a Mac 5.1, have them open the file, and save it as a 5.1 session. Then I could edit the file on my 5.1 Windows LE system, email the file back to the person with the 5.1, ask them to open it and save it as a 5.0.1, then import it back to the Mac 5.0.1 system for mixing.
Does this make sense?
Thanks in advance,
S.G.lad
