And then I'm having an issue with the search field not being present in the Help menu and a strange issue with a video not playing when making a selection with a specific out point.

If you are in Ultimate, that's Clip Effects. On Mac, Opt-Numpad6 to open and close it.

2010 MP Mojave (12 core 64GB SSD boot AMD 580 Metal-MacVideo card)

Best yet for stability with HDX ultimate.

Waiting for the Hybrid HDX-teaser...
and maybe the MacProMINI-M in the Fall.

I had a lot of random crashes when Pro Tools was sitting idle or when loading a new Session at least for a year. Since 2020.12 not a single crash so far (knock on wood)

macOS Catalina.

This bug is a showstopper for me and has been around since 2019.10

Also there seem to be many delay compensation issues lately.

Other than that I have some (Avid) plugin bug tickets open, all confirmed as bugs but none of them are being fixed (been a few years now I think).

The delay compensation bugs have been around for years, unfortunately. I have no idea why AVID is not putting more effort into solving those. These seem critical to me, considering the main function of Pro Tools, which is mixing.

On the other hand, I was in contact with support yesterday, and they claim quite a few bugs have been solved in the mixing engine, because of the Carbon release. When I asked them why these solved bugs weren't in the release notes for 2020.12, they said 'probably because no-one reported them'. For a fact, I know they're lying, because I have quite a few tickets open regarding this kind of issues. I'm talking about delay compensation bugs, mixer fold down bugs, input monitoring problems, etc.

For me, it's very sad they were 'forced' to solve many of these bugs, only because of the Carbon release. So, it's both a bad and a good thing.

I have not tried 2020.12 yet, so I can't verify their claims. In any case, my opinion is they progress way too slowly and don't take their customers seriously, proven by the fact that I have some tickets open for over 3 years. I'm not talking minor annoyances, but major bugs and workflow obstacles.

I think 28 pages of Known Issues and 8 pages General Compatibility Info which are basically Compatibility Issues speak for them selves. And I have the impression it's getting worse instead of better. I'm really a bit concerned about the future of this software.
