Error installing ProTools 8...
Hi everyone!
I just got a brand new Eleven Rack and am trying to install it on my IMac. I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.3.. I keep getting the following message to the end of the install: System extension cannot be used The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/DigidesignElevenRack.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update. The install seems to go through, but I just hate to have an install with an error message in it. I'd like a clean instal, you know... I read somewhere that I should try installing the latest Pace driver from http://paceap.com/, but it did not fix the problem... Is my DVD disc corrupted? Help! |

Re: Error installing ProTools 8...
Hi,
I am having a similar problem. I am trying to install Pro Tools 8 (came with Mbox 2) on my Mac (specifications below). At the end of the installation process, I always get this massage: The installation failed. The installer can't write the receipt for "Plug-In updates" I have learned already that you need to download an update to Pro Tools 8.0.3 if you use Snow Leopard: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=362799 But, even following all this recommendation still results in the same failure message. I spent 600 EUR on equipment two days ago and would like to get started. Being held up with the installation really sucks... Please help!!! Many thanks in advance ______________________ Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Model Name: MacBook Model Identifier: MacBook5,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz |

Re: Error installing ProTools 8...
I've not had any problems with installation on my OSX 10.6.3 iMacs (2 of them) - BUT - I am using the PT install disc that came with 8.0.3 on it. I assume that the updates for Leopard are 8.0.3 as opposed to an update to 8.0.3?
Cheers David PS - you have run a repair on your disc permissions haven't you? |

Re: Error installing ProTools 8...
Unfortunately my instal disk is version 8.0...
I would upgrade to 8.03 if only I could install version 8.0 without any errors... I did do a disk repair, but still getting errors... This is frustrating! I just got a brand new Eleven Rack and can't use PT yet... :-/ |

Re: Error installing ProTools 8...
Ok, I fixed the problem.
I uninstalled PT8 completely, then ran the upgrade with my original PT DVD in the drive. No errors! Thanks everyone. |
