Basic questions regarding Elastic Audio
These are basic Elastic Audio questions.
They are probably answered in a thread somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Questions: (1) Is the procedure (see below) I am following acceptable? Or is it flawed? (2) If I use Polyphonic when I reposition notes (to save time), and then select X-Form to render, is the quality the same as if I used X-Form throughout? In other words, does using Polyphonic when making changes cause lower quality? Procedure I am following: 1)Go to the lowest portion of the track (in the Edit window) and select “Polyphonic”. 2)Select “Warp” instead of “Wavelength”. 3)Select the Pencil tool. 4)Change from Grid to Slip, so initial Warp Markers won’t move. 5)Put Warp Markers at the first and last notes, to tie down the end points. 6)Put Warp Markers at occasional points throughout the region, to tie things down. 7)Change back to Grabber tool. 8)Change back to Grid, if you want the Warp Markers to move to grid when you reposition them. 9)Reposition notes with the Grabber tool, as needed. 10) When finished with notes, click on Polyphonic so you can see the Elastic Audio Window. 11) Change from Polyphonic to X-Form, and immediately click on “IN” under “Formant”, so the “IN” turns blue. 12) Make sure Quality is set to Maximum. 13) Wait for tracks to change from Grey to colors. 14) On arrows to the left of “X-Form”, select “None – Disable Elastic Audio”. 15) Click on “Commit”, to commit to the changes. Thanks for the help! |

Re: Basic questions regarding Elastic Audio
1. Your procedure seems fine to me. I'm doing basically the same.
2. Yes you can edit in poly or mono or whatever and then at the end render in x-form with its full quality. Otherwise it would be illogical. hope this helps |

Re: Basic questions regarding Elastic Audio
Thank you!
If I had to use X-Form throughout, it would be completely impractical.........I couldn't afford the time it would take. Thanks again. |

Re: Basic questions regarding Elastic Audio
You only need to click "formant" on X-Form if you're using Elastic Pitch. That might save you a bit of time.
Personally I don't use your method. I edit the analysis markers instead, then, depending on what's required, either quantise hard, or quantise only at 1% (which effectively puts the warp markers in for you) and manually adjust from there. |
