Question about using 11rack and 11plugin at same time for dual rigs

Hey guys I have heard about people using the eleven plugin and the eleven rack at the same time to achieve dual rigs. I myself have not been able to do the same thing without it sounding like total crap. I load up a stereo track in pro tools with the eleven rig ins and outs and then I load eleven plugin as a mono insert. Is this the proper way to do it? If not what am I doing wrong. This all seems a bit confused. What exactly are you trying to do (artistically/from a performance viewpoint?). Why are you working on a stereo track? Is there a stereo dry signal you are trying to reamp? Are you trying to bi-amp a single guitar or are different guitar parts going through different amps? Is this for live use or for recording? You will likely have problems with delays, and lots of other things if trying live. For live you really want two Eleven Racks or an Axe-FX (which can concurrently run two amp/cab sims)

For recording--start by working out how to reamp a single mono track with the Eleven plugin. If for a recording start with the standard dry track you have recorded from the Eleven Rack and work out how to reamp that with the Eleven plugin. You can also reamp another dry signal (or use sends to bus the signal two two different aux tracks where you insert the different Eleven plugin instances). With potentially several instance of Eleven you may not even need the Eleven Rack.

Yeah, you're doing it wrong. I use a mono track from the 11r rig and pan it one way, then I load up a track with the input set to "guitar in" and put the Eleven plugin on that track and pan it appropriately.

I nornally only use mono tracks. I'll record throgh the 11Rack and then take the clean DI track duplicate it a few times and put the Eleven plugin on those tracks. You can get huge sounds fast. Typically I will duplicate parts and pan them left and right. Anything stereo is going to come from a plug or being bussed.

I checked my email, thanks a bunch Benoni it makes perfect sense. And the reason I use stereo tracks is because I frequently use MixIR 2 for impulse responses and it only loads as a stereo fx insert.

MixIR2 loads as mono for me just fine. Make sure you are using the latest RTAS version which can be downloaded in your Redwirez account.
