Default HD Accel System

Is it wise to invest in an HD Accel System since it will not work with Pro Tools 11?

Only you know that.

Are you ok with buying a system that while it will work for YEARS to come, will NEVER be able to be upgraded and take advantage of the newest features?

Is this for a live rig that will do NOTHING but record shows?

How inexpensive is the purchase?

Lots would go into answering your question.

Generally speaking? My answer would be no.

I have a chance to get an new HD3 system with a new copy of PT9 new never used for $2500.. Currently I am using PTLE 8. I am seeing the need to upgrade, now. But, will I be able to sale this system later. I see your point and have thought about it the same way you have. I'm really looking for some big brother advise. Keep in mind I have always wanted a Control 24, too, and it's no longer supported. Can I live with PT10 HD?

How well do you like 8?

What do you think HD will do for you that you can not do in 8LE?

What kind of improvement are you looking for?

Do you have the computer for the HD cards? (if not I'd get the computer for 11 and go to 11 w/ a new interface, probably an UA Apollo)

I currently have a Mac Pro. So I won't need to buy the New Mac Pro. I don't think I want the new Mac Pro.

All an HD3 system will give you is the ability to track with plug-ins with low latency for headphones

So if your needing a rock-solid system with that ability then yeah an HD3 systems an awesome deal

These were the holy Grail's not too many years ago

But that's all I would use it for is tracking

Well, I decided to get the HD System. It's an HD3 with Pro Tools HD9. I should have it by the June 25th.
One real question: since the software for HD9 is new and has not been registered; then I should automatically qualify for HD10? Or am I wrong?

Registration for upgrades use to be tied to Cards. Are the cards new as well? If not get the transfer of ownership. If you do get the HD10 you'll likely get HD11 which will not work with the HD3 but will work with other interfaces (Just no HD3 card access)
Did you get an interface for the HD3? (Digilink compatible)?

if it has never been registered then then I will assume you will get the upgrade, probably the 10/11 combo license

do you have an iLok? if you don't I would recommend a v2 over the old v1
(Slate Digital has a deal on right now that thy include a v2 with purchase of some of there plugins, if it's something you want it's a good deal)

The PTHD 9 is in an unopened box. I still have to get a 192 I/O.
