Default Lost "Getting Started" Guide & Authorization Code

Hi everyone,

I was googling this topic, as I just got my Digi 001 back into my PC and am trying to get it running again. I realized that I need the authorization code (the computer has since been formatted a few times) again, but I can't find my "Getting Started" guide.

All I have is the quick reference, the LE 5.3.1 disc, and of course the hardware.

I noticed there are Digidesign Administrators here. Would one of you be able to help me with this? I can provide the necessary data like the serial number and model number.

Thanks!
Andy

You should send that info directly to tech support. Or if you buy the 6,4 upgrade, it will come with a new authorization code. If you do update to 6.4, get the cs9 update as well(needed for indows XP service pack 2).

It's only $35 to buy the 6.4 upgrade for the 001 from the Digistore. I believe all you need to submit is the serial# of the 001 unit, not the registration# of PT5.

I'm think I called in the correct line (Customer Service). I picked the option for Authorization Codes -> Pro Tools before 6.9. But I was on hold for 30 minutes before I finally gave up.

I'm fine with just continuing to use 5.3.1. It's a rather old computer, and I know that 5.3.1 worked just fine with it. I noticed that there was an administrator that was able to give out an authorization code. Would that be the case here?

Thanks,
Andy

Would 6.4 put an increased load on the system? Would I need to get new plugins?

I am considering upgrading to 6.4 if it will still work correctly and run as smoothly as 5.3.1 did.

Thanks to everyone's input.

Andy

Big MAYBE to both questions. As I recall, system load went up as each update hit the market. As to how much, maybe someone else has better info. As for Plugins, once again its a MAYBE as they often do(especially dealing with a full version upgrade-i.e. 5.x to 6.x as opposed to 5.3.1 to 5.3.3). The real question there is what plugins do you have?
