Default Protools LE with Delta LT

Hello everyone. Initially, I am a cubase user but I will be using M-Box to do additional audio work. I always hear everyone say that digidesign hardware should be used along with the software but I was curious if Anyone has smooth operation using soundcards such as M-Audio's Delta 1010 LT.
Is it really necessary for me to hook up the M-box for optimum error free operation?

It's necessary to have the digidesign interface hooked up to even execute the pro tools application, and any other audio card (like your delta) will not be available to pro tools.
