There isn't a lot to know!

What problems are you having?

There is a DC manual on the technical documents page - check the link at the top of this page

Hi there several steps to setup NI app in DC. I would contact NI Tech Support so they can send you manual on this.

You really should find what you need in the manual from Native - but to summarise:

Ensure that a DC plugin has been installed in your system/dae/plugins folder - FM7 or something like that.

Start PT, open a session.

Create an aux track (stereo)

Create a midi track

Start FM7

Ensure that it's output is set to direct connect and that it's midi input is set to one of the iac busses provided as part of OMS.

Switch back to PT, set the output of the midi track to the same IAC buss as FM7 uses.

In the first insert slot of the aux track, load the FM7 plugin and select the inputs (probably 1-2) from the drop down.

Press play - this will get the link going (this might not be necessary on LE systems, but on D24 systems where you use RTAS d/c you need to do this).

Then stop, record arm the midi track and whatever you play should trigger the FM7.

Hope this helps

Pete

Thanks guys! I'm almost there. Now it starts but when I switch to the fm7 I lose midi control. Also lots of stuck notes.

Peteri: your directions were great!! why can't manuals be so concise and clear?

Specifically my problem is an oms error

"OMS has too much midi data to send for over 5 seconds. This could mean there is a mid loop. Carefully check your software midi routings especially ones between applications"

so...here's my setup G4/450, serial midi via stealth port, studio 4 iinterface. any trouble shooting ideas welcomed

Just checked it and only my midi controller was selected in PT.

In the FM7 settings, should the "midi through" be checked? (mine is)

For "midi output port" I have the just FM7 listed.

For "receive inputs from" I have just my controller keyboard listed.

Thanks again for the help!

Default how-to Direct Connect

Can anyone point me to some DC turorials. I'm having problems with the FM7 and my G4/450 9.04. I can't seem to find any tutorials on the subject. If anyone has any leads, kindly post the url.

On a slightly unrelated topic, does anyone know how to get FM7's internal tempo to sync to ProTools? I'm sending midi beat clock out the IAC bus in OMS to the FM7, but it ignores it.
