I'm sure there is an easy fix for this, but I can't seem to get this working properly.
I have a mic plugged into the talkback input at FOH. I've gone into Options > Misc tab and put it IN and set gain. I've routed the output to an Aux which contains other talkback mics on stage and ultimately routes to an Aviom channel. This all works as it should....until I load a different show or shut down and restart the console. This causes the talkback to no longer be 'active' and I have to manually go into Options > Misc and click the level knob to bring it back to IN status. Why does this revert to off and how can I fix it? Lastly, I currently have a mic with an on/off switch for the talkback, but I'd rather use a function key to turn it on/off. I've followed instructions by the letter in the manual and via another thread here in this forum and yet the function key does nothing...always passing audio to the Aux I assigned the talkback to. For the trigger I used Function Switch 8, Pressed. For the Action I have Talkback, On, While Active with a wait of 0 seconds. This event is active and has a READY status. I did successfully assign tap tempo to the User key, so that event is working flawlessly, but I have the 2 above issues regarding the talkback. Any help is much appreciated. |

I've never used the function in the Options>Misc tab for talkback. I just patch it to a channel and route from there. As for your switching question, my solution is to use a Boss FS-5U footswitch connected to the footswitch input on the console. I then create an event that opens my talkback channel when I step on the switch, and mutes when released, keeping my hands free for running the console.
Hope that helps. |

The talkback input defaults to off, as well as it's routing, as does the oscillator. This is considered a general safety.
If you want to keep an input that's a part of the workflow of your file open, it's best to use a standard input for this. As mentioned by Justin_T, using a standard analog input, and either using a function key, or foot switch to unmute the talkback channel that is routed to all necessary busses (post fader), would be the simplest way to achieve this. |
