Mbox 2 pro PT LE 8.0 unable to connect

Mac Book pro 15.4; Mac OS 10.6.8. Intel Core 2 Duo. CPU 2.8 GHz Memory 4Go, 1067 MHz; DDR 3. Mbox 2 Pro; Pro Tools LE 8.0. Connection: Firewire 400/800.

Hello,
Here's my pb: my Mbox 2 Pro is not recognized anymore so PT can't launch. It appeared all of a sudden while it was all working great (no error messages before).
I checked the power adaptor of the Mbox, it is fine, green light is blinking.
I changed the cable (Firewire400/800) for a new one; same pb.
I tried to upgrade Protools to LE 8.0.5.
I uninstalled PT (clean uninstall and trashed the prefs, I trashed the Digidesign databases too) and reinstalled PT LE 8.0.
The message is: "unable to locate digidesgin hardware". The mbox appears in the System preferences, but as if it were not connected, even when it is.
If the box's firmware got corrupted, where can I get it back? can I download it? I cannot find the info on the avid site. Can the Firewire ports crash? In that case is it possible to repair them and where?
