Pro Tools LE 8.0.1 Issues
I own a Mac version 10.9.2 with an MBox 2 and Pro Tools LE 8.0.1. I am currently unable to open the program because it tells me that "Pro Tools LE quit unexpectedly".
I recently updated both ProTools drivers and the MBox drivers for the products but now I cannot even register my products because I do not have a System ID and I lost my activation code for the LE 8. (I purchased the product back in 2008) Therefore, I am unable to get my product up and running. What can I do to fix this problem? |

Pro Tools LE 8.0.1 Issues
PT8 was made for OSX 10.6 so you would be needing an upgrade. Without activation code the software won't activate, obviously...

Re: Pro Tools LE 8.0.1 Issues
As to your specific situation the only way to go I see would be to upgrade to PT11
with the serial number of your MBox 2. There´s no way to run LE8 on Mavericks. The last OS LE8 worked with properly was Mac OS 10.6.8 and only if you would have an older Mac (2009/2010/2011) which came with 10.6. or an even prior OS once, you could run LE8 again. For this you would have to install 10.6.8 on this machine again as LE8 will not work with any later OS anymore. This however would definitely work out. If you can´t do that the only version that´s left is to upgrade to PT11. But you may be aware of that unfortunately the MBox 2 doesn´t run with Mavericks and PT11 properly in many many cases anymore (although Avid has released a recent driver for it). A few people still seem to be able to use it with PT11/Mavericks but in most of the cases people just can´t get it to work in this configuration anymore. It´s just kinda legacy for the latest OS software/applications. Means, you probably also would have to get a more recent audio interface in this scenario. Not the very best news indeed, I know, but true unfortunately. If your Mac would be old enough to install 10.6.x on it again, you could go this route. Then you may try to contact Avid and tell them the serial number of your MBox 2, so maybe they will give you another activation code for your LE. Then you would put your machine back on 10.6.8, connect your MBox 2 and you would be good to go. If your Mac is too young to be able to install 10.6.x on it you only can try to upgrade your LE8 to PT11 via the serial number of the MBox as mentioned before and try if you would get the MBox 2 to work with Mavericks/PT11. In the worst case you would have to get a new interface as well but on the other hand with such a one then you would get a new, recent system you would be able to use for years again. The MBox 2 you could try to sell on Ebay in this scenario. Just basic info and some thoughts. No easy way out unfortunately. Anyway the best of success, VRW MacMini i7Quad, 16GB Ram, MBP Mid 2012 2,5GHz i5, 16GB Ram, MacOS 10.9.4, Apogee Quartet+Duet 2, Genelec Active, Yamaha NS10, Pro Tools 11.2, Logic 10.0.7, Waves, MCDSP, Duende Native, Softube, HOFA, IK Multimedia etc |
