Default Caviar Black Internal or Glyph GT 050Q

I've heard good things about Glyph drives for use in audio production, but are they all they're cracked up to be, and if I use the Glyph drive in an e-SATA setup, will it be better/outperform an internal Caviar Black? Thoughts? Thanks.

save your money and buy 2 WD caviar blacks, put one inside the PC case, then buy an External E-Sata case and put the other HDD in the case. Now you have 2 drives for a bit more than one glyph. Nothing wrong with a Glyph, but you are paying for the name.

This case comes with all you will need to use a drive as E-SATA.

Well said. And AFAIK, eSATA will/should have the same performance as SATA)internal). I do hate those crappy connectors on the eSATA cables. My eSATA optical drive worked about 50% of the time, so now its on a USB2 connection.(which, believe it or not, Avid now recommends OVER firewire for Windows 7 users). Maybe USB3 will be something good after all?!

You will ussually see slightly less performace on an esata drive, reason being the longer cable produces more latency then the standard 18" internal cable. The performance decrease is negligable compared to usb or firewire though.
