HD Native Card not recognized by Pro Tools
Starting a new thread on this as I seem to have really narrowed down the issue and it isn't reflected by the title of the original thread.
My HD Native card isn't recognized by Pro Tools HD 10.3.7 or PT HD 11.0.1. When I open up Pro Tools, there is no option to select HD Native. Additionally, digitest crashes 100% of the time. I'm on a Mac Pro 4.1, 2 x 2.6 quad, 20 gigs of ram, 10.8.4. My Sound system preferences sees the card and recognizes it as an HD Native. Audio Midi setup sees and recognizes the card as the same. My computer system reports sees the pci card. After several clean installs of both Pro Tools and the HD drivers, trashing preferences, etc., I created a new user account which temporarily fixed the issue. Today, after uninstalling a logitech mouse driver, changing my account preferences to auto login to my new account and restarting my computer the problem returned. I am at my wits end. I can create a new user account again, but that is a very time consuming and inefficient problem solving technique. I have an email into Avid with my free ACS number, but have not heard back in over a week. Please, help! If anyone has any other guesses as to why this isn't working. My next step will be a clean OS install, but I really don't want to have to take the time to do that. |

Have you tried holding down N while PT launches?

Re: HD Native Card not recognized by Pro Tools
Yes, the same playback engine options remain, no hd native.

Re: HD Native Card not recognized by Pro Tools
Tried a fresh OS install on a partition and everything works as expected, but the same thing occurred with a new user account and eventually reverted back to not working. Sigh.
Is it my machine? Mac Pro 4.1 from early 2009 - I'm assuming others have a similar setup and it's working successfully? |

Re: HD Native Card not recognized by Pro Tools
This is my second card. Avid thought the same thing on my first call with them and had Sweetwater sent me a new card. Installed the card and got the exact same results. Seems unlikely that two cards would be bad, right?

Re: HD Native Card not recognized by Pro Tools
this maybe obvious, but the avid core audio manager isn't open when you try to launch protools? In system preference change your sound out to anything but HD native.

No, core audio manager isn't open. In fact, when I open core audio manager in standalone, Avid HW says unsupported device. |
