Default Trying to find 10.11 El Capitan

Similar issue to previous poster looking for 10.10. I stayed on Yosemite waiting for Avid to qualify El Capitan and now that I found out it is qualified it's too late because Apple pulled El Capitan from the Apple Store and Apple Support only has the point updates.

I do have El Capitan running on a 2010 MacMini not currently used with Pro Tools, installed 10.11.5 from the Apple Store a few months ago and then updated to 10.11.6. Is there any way I can create an El Capitan installer with that machine that I could use on my 2014 MB Pro? Or any other solution?

From my experience and the experience of some others I've encountered, you'd be best to stay on Yosemite. El Capitan was one of the worst operating systems for people even though being qualified. Outside of Pro Tools I encountered problems just with every day programs. Once back on Yosemite I had no issues.

Thanks for the advice, Drumz! I'm Ok with Yosemite generally and I suppose it's unlikely that very many apps that I run will become incompatible with Yosemite over the next year. So I can afford to wait for Avid to qualify Sierra and upgrade to that if there aren't any issues for PT 12.

Meanwhile, I think I'll download the Sierra installer on my other Mac without completing the installation and keep a copy of it in a safe place in case the current scenario repeats!

That's what I do. Even if I have no intention of installing the OS I will download it anyways. This way it will show up in your store history and you can always go back and re download if you lose the installer.

Store history... purchases... of course! I am such a dunce!! I did install El Capitan on my other Mac, and the download is listed there in my Purchases. So, because there's no limitation on which or how many Macs I install it on, I'm good.

As I previously mentioned I probably won't install it on my main machine running PT 12.6 on Yosemite. But the El Capitan installer will still be a good safety net for my other, older Mac because I think eventually I'll use that one to try out PT 12.?? on Sierra before going there with the Yosemite machine.

Thanks very much!
