Pro Tools Hangs in Record for several seconds sometimes longer while recording MIDI

When I record MIDI pro Tools hangs in record several seconds and sometimes longer after I press the space bar to stop. I have updated to PT 8.0.4 This is extremely annoying lol and time consuming. I'm usuing a Duel Core Mac Pro Intel Xeon Processors with a 002. I have tried everything from erasing Prefs to Turning off Bluetooth etc. Does anyone have an alternative solution? Thanks for the future advice!
