Slow development, can be applied in a model like the previous one, where Avid could take all the time they need, to release the new version with added features, bug fixes etc.
User had the choice to upgrade or not, depending of how attractive the new version is.

When the model is, grab the cash in advance, giving no clue of what to expect next (development wise), under deliver or deliver nothing at all for 6 months (half the annual fee gone) .....then no....they don't have the time luxury to be slow.
Better hire more people, get some voodoo gods in play, work their ass off to make it happen......i don't care...it is their problem to solve.

Cheers!
Great response, now if only Avid read this board

I hope you all realize if you're on the hamster wheel, its NEVER GONNA END, cuz theyll be a new buggy OS in 12 months or so, and on and on and on.........why continue on with this consternation. Either lock off a computer OS/PT combo, and create, or continue the hamster wheel , and accept the incesant headaches.....this is the outcome of SaaS.

Not only that, I think Avid's last press release about the changes in pricing pretty clearly signalled their intentions of prioritising subscription over perpetual licensing. An Adobe style subscription only future is most likely on the horizon and it wouldn't surprise me if they started the ball rolling with Pro Tools Vanilla first.

Will not make a difference at all...they are pushing the subscription model Adobe style, as someone correctly pointed out, the "hamster wheel" model for the users, which is terrible option IMO.

I already jumped off that wheel, this company is not trustworthy to continue spend any money on them, tired of the arrogance and high horse attitude when in reality they are in their worst financial condition than ever and should care more for their customers, because they need them more than ever now...Oh well...they are not the first or the last that will bite the dust sooner or later.

As always, vote with wallet is the true power, more powerful than my words in a thread.

Cheers!

I’m my world if you don’t deliver you don’t get paid. Why should Avid be any different.

I said the same thing x amount of posts/pages back.

I totally agree. You want us to pay a yearly fee? Sure thing. Deliver the goods and I don’t have an issue.

You want us to pay up front on the promise that you’ll deliver the goods and then don’t? Hmmmm... Something’s missing.

Thanks Capt Kirk! Good advice. Im not sure what SaaS is though. I did lock my computer in the past until Avid had compatibility that was rock solid. I may just have to do that again. I'm not looking forward to Catalina in the least bit anyway.

Last year I sold my omni/HDN and didn't renew the Ultimate version, instead I renewed the normal version I have and I have on year from now till my plan expired.
I'm using Studio one and I'm getting used to it.
I'm looking for 3 simple things:
1- folder track is a top request for me since 5 years!!!
2- ARA integration
3- fix the major bugs.
