No sound via headphones (iMacPro with PT 2019.5) (SOLVED)

Hello,

I have installed PT 2019.5 on a fresh iMP (Mojave 10.14.5) and I am not able to get any sound via the connected headphones. I am not using any interfaces or monitors yet.

Playback via iTunes works without any troubles. If headphones connected, sound via headphones, if not, sound via internal speakers, as expected.

In Mojave System Preferences/Sound/Output I can choose between
External headphones (selected atm)
iMac Pro speakers
Pro Tools Aggregate I/O

Within PT Playback Engine the following options are available:
Pro Tools Aggregate I/O (selected atm)
External Headphones
iMac Pro Microfone
iMac Pro speakers

I tried several combinations, as well as External Headphones BUT I do not get any sound via headphones, only via speakers all the time.

I deleted everything within Setup/I/O Settings of PT and choose Default but still no sound via headphones.

Which settings have to be done to get any sound via headphones within PT
Any help highly appreciated.

Your post is not real clear

Are you saying you get PT sound with the iMac internal speakers but not the headphone jack ?

If that is case then I am not sure what the problem is

Right, no sound via headphones within PT, but via internal speakers.

The headphone jack and the headphones are working fine because I am getting sound via iTunes e.g.

Thank you, but your link refers to an audio input issue. I have an audio output issue.

Basic apps treat these as a single output, more complex apps.. it’s up to you.

Does the volume level show onscreen when making volume adjustments after the headphones are plugged into your Mac?

Thank you for the link, darryl. Explained a few more things to me.

Restarted my machine, deleted all the prefs and picked "external headphones" in OSX-Sound-Output-System Preferences and PT Playback Engine and now I am getting sound through my headphones :)

Great. I remember Apple doing this in some recent models, had to Google to see if it was done in yours and found that handy article.. It’s a nice thing they actually did (for a change.... give me back my Mini-TOSLINK output... grrr).
