Apogee Symphony MKII HD and Digi 192 not working together
Hi everyone I was hoping I could find a solution to my problem that Both AVID and Apogee can’t figure out.
This is the scenario I’m running Pro tools 12.7.1 on a 12 core Mac Pro with Sierra and an HD Native PCi card. I Have an Apogee Symphony MKII HD with the latest Firmware as my master interface and a Digidesign 192 running as the second unit. I have the 192 hooked up to the second slot on the PCI card and hooked into the primary port on the back of the 192. My problem is this: In the I/o Setup Pro tools sees the 192 in the B slot but it is greyed out and I can’t get any input or output from it. The 192 is wired in as per Apogees instructions on their website. When I switch sample rate the 192 follows and The 192 shows up and tests fine in Digitest. When I disconnect the Apogee the 192 works perfectly fine in either slot same goes for the Symphony MKII HD. Only when they are both hooked up do I have the problem. My Apogee MKII HD is an 8x8 and the 192 is 16x8. The HD native card Is supposed to be able to handle 64 channels of I/O so there should be no I/O conflict. Is there anyone that has a similar setup that is working or know of any fixes? Thanks |

Have you tried daisy chaining one from the other?

Re: Apogee Symphony MKII HD and Digi 192 not working together
I run a Symphony MKI with an Avid HD I/O 16x16 (and a 96I/O) and even though I think of the Apogee box as my main (and have the audio wired that way) the Avid box MUST be first (primary Digilink Port) or else it doesn't work.

Re: Apogee Symphony MKII HD and Digi 192 not working together
Apogee Says the MKII HD needs to be first, but either way, I hooked up the 192 first and the Symphony MKII second and it still didn't work. As I stated the 192 works fine by itself but as soon as you hook up the Symphony MKII it doesn't pass I/O

Re: Apogee Symphony MKII HD and Digi 192 not working together
Yes it’s in HD mode and as far as they (Apogee) is concerned they think
Everything is fine because the Symphony MKII is working fine. This the catch 22 Avid is pointing at Apogee and Apogee is pointing at avid |

A very common failure with DigiLink is cables and connectors. You have all the permutations to try... try the 192 on both ports by itself with both cables (to see if they both are OK), try the Symphony by itself on both ports with both cables. So you at least know both DigiLink ports work and both cables work. Does the Symphony work on Thunderbolt? If you've proven the cables and ports are OK then Apogee support really needs to step up here... and they should know that.... or thanks for the heads up that we should avoid their gear. Re: Apogee Symphony MKII HD and Digi 192 not working together
Hi Darryl,
No the Symphony MK is an HD version running on the native card so no it doesn’t have thunderbolt that is a different unit altogether . Yes the 192 works on both ports and both cables by itself but once the Apogee is hooked up I’m back to no I/O on the 192.. I have to say I was on the phone with Avid for four hours and the tech and I tried everything. He was great and really tried to help. I contacted Apogee via online chat and they basically didn’t care other then that the Symphony was working.. too bad I had more respect for Apogee then that but it seems like the could care less to help |

Have you tried swapping out your loop sync cables? You could have a bad cable.
Same for Digilink Cable. |
