To avoid preamps in the 002R use inputs 5-8. As far as the sonic quality of various preamps is concerned, “as it applies to guitar” I suggest using your ears and choosing what serves your project best.

Make sure you check the dry signal to make sure it sounds good for modeling software.it may be necessary too eq it before the modeling plug. At least that's been what I've noticed in the past on some preamps.

So i have DI box (active) but it looks like it has 2 inputs (balanced and unbalanced) but only one output. Shouldn't it be opposite?

Any good clean DI with 2 outputs on it and a ground lift switch. It's how I used to do mine until I switched to 100% dry.
