Default Recording 24bit into 16bit session

Recording some vox for a project of someone elses. They are at 44.1 and 24bit.
Due to being a dumbass I recorded into a 16bit session (but at the correct 44.1), using my Apogee Rosetta at 24 bit output setting, to ADATs that feed my 96i/o.

1. What effect has this had on the audio? I am assuming PT has had to truncate with no dither.

2. I need to do some radical pitching (+3 semitones) for an effect on the vocals. Is it best to migrate my 16bit audio to a 24bit session before processing or stick where I am? Baring in mind the final files have to go into Logic session at 24bit.

thanks

1- You only lost the lowest 8 bits of your recording. But you didn't hear it any way.

2-Stick with what you got. For pitch shifting, it's better to record at higher sample rates though.

thanks....in theory, if I am recording so the input is hitting just over halfway in the volume bar would there be ANY quality difference btw 16 and 24. Does 24 only really come into play when capturing very quiet sounds? Or does the extra resolution of 24 bit improve the sound whatever volume?

and also....do plug ins and audiosuite perform better in 24 sessions than 16?

You'll definitely have a better result with reverb tails and room sounds if you go with 24 bits.
