Default MPC 1000 with ProTools LE SYNC Problem

1. I have a midi track with a 8 bar sequence on Protools
2. I have a 8 bar drum pattern on a sequence on the MPC1000.
3. Protools is master and mpc is slave.
4. No problem syncing
5. I setup Protools to loop bars 1 thru 8
6. MPC will play the 8 bars sync but once Protools restarts back to bar 1 the MPC stops playing.

Can anyone tell me if this is a bug or a config not configured correctly? Please remember that the SYNC will not work when I have PTLE to loop for the 8 bars. Strange!! I am running OS 1.07 and PTLE 6.9.

This sounds like an MTC problem, and not a bug in Protools..... I don't believe MTC, MIDI Clock, or any other SYNC that the MPC1000 might use via MIDI can follow a loop.
It's the same problem with Virtual VTR..... you can't have a loop around a number of bars, and have a MIDI slave follow it....There's no answer to this I'm afraid!
If you're just looping 8 bars of MPC around, why not print it to audio?..... Then Protools will loop fine!

Glad to see others are using the beast that is the MPC!!!!

I'm sure Jon is right, but I've always had problems syncing Roland gear with Pro Tools. I have a VS2480 which I set as the master for MMC, but have the 002R as the clock source. It won't work the other way round. I also set the sync error to 0, with gap off. Might work for the beast.

**Jon is correct here

Bluemoon, I find this a little odd. I can sync in both directions with my VS2480 and Digi 002Rack
without problems. I can set the VS as master and ProTools as slave or VS as slave and Protools as Master without problems. I'll try it with the Digi as master clock with the VS giveing the MMC commands to see if I get any problems.

Some devices lose sync with Pro Tools when in loop mode. We are looking into a possible solution for this in a further update to Pro Tools.

Default Re: MPC 1000 with ProTools LE SYNC Problem

i noticed a lot of threads with this question or something along the same vein. i have a MPC as well and i'm having problems. I know its possible to synch Pro tools LE with an external midi clock but truthfully how stable is it? i know HD users deservingly have the own sync master clock but do we have a suggested option for Pro Tools LE to use just for syncing devices that all use midi beat clock? Or am i asking the wrong question, and should i assume that the problem is with midi time code itself? i'm tryin to use a fantom x6 and a mpc1000 together with pro tools LE 6.7 so that if i hit play on the mpc, pro tools starts rolling as well. maybe you can send me a link to some digi instructions or something in the help menu on pro tools i can go to just so i can double check if i did anything wrong on my end. all in all i have to say pro tools is almost a perfect combination of hardware and software for recording on any level.

thanks in advance for your help.
