Default Re: ProTools Ultimate Software labels are suddenly Blank?

Thank you, Obsidian Dragon!

I didn't think to try installing on another drive.
I'm going to go back a version and try installing that on an ext. drive to see if it opens/runs normally.

You'll want to make the external drive a bootable system drive with the OS. Set that as you boot drive and reboot before installing Protools. If things don't go well, you simply switch back to your original boot drive and everything is back to the way it was and try again if needed.

The reason I suggest a new install of the OS is this sounds like something strange is going on between your OS and Protools (something like the font is not loading or displaying). So it is best to replace both the OS and Protools to see if it fixes the issue.

Exactly. What scares me is how did PT update itself? Unless the OP has some kind of program that automatically searches for and updates programs? Methinks there is something else going on we don't know about.

So Protools basics make sure you deselect Auto Update. You should never allow auto updates of OS

I am checking with AVID and APPLE, but I am pretty confident this is an Avid issue (since ProTools Ultimate software is the only thing being affected).
Actually probably not the case, most likely it is specific to something corrupted in your system. Otherwise others would be reporting the same issue.

The simple fix turned out to be that when I installed Adobe Creative Suite about 2 months ago... It caused a Font Conflict I did not figure out, and was not aware of, till this week. As a test, I shut of all the fonts Adobe Creative Suite loaded (a handful) via a font manager and my ProTools came back to normal...

Sad, it took me this long to troubleshoot what turned out to be a simple problem I OVERTHOUGHT, but things could always be worse. Thank you for your assistance and recommendations.
