Default Re: ProTools with wireless headphones + Bluetooth codecs

I had the same problem.
My old headphones (AKG 50 which I recieved as a gift when I purchased Samsung Galaxy Note 8) have been not synchorized with Pro Tools.
So, after reading a review about Samson SR850 on https://whoishuman.io/cheap-studio-headphones/, I have decided to buy especially because of the quality of sound and its cheap price.
Guess what, pairing problems have not been resolved. So, I discover that you are using a really old version of Bluetooth (my macbook pro 2012).

OK, so Loopback works perfectly for this.... but it's costs too much $120 to justify the expense.

Soundflower - it might work, but I tinkered for a long while with no success.

It's a real PITA that ProTools doesn't want to play ball, when all my other apps work fine with these headphones.

Dante VIA will do this too. I believe it cost less, but can't remember how much. Made by the same folks responsible for Dante audio networking.

The open source software you are looking for is called Jack, and it works on Mac too.

i had the same problem using my AKG N60NC Bluetooth phones. this worked:

install the free Ladiocast app, available at the App Store.
install Soundflower, also free.
switch the Pro Tools Playback engine to Soundflower (2ch).
route Soundflower (2ch) to a Ladiocast input and make sure that input is assigned to Main.
route the Ladiocast Main Output to your headphone driver.
play your Pro Tools session. viola!

OK, so I figured it out...

After entertaining many, many options, the solution was amazingly (and dumb on my part) simple.

All I did was to use the PT Aggregate I/O and remove EVERYTHING, except the output of my Bluetooth headphones.

PT only freaks out when the headphones' mic is selected.

Thanks for everyone's input on this. Really appreciate the support

@ Sardi.
Been trying to use Loopback so that I can use BT in-ears at the same time as my Apollo 8 I/O to speakers.
So far, every method I've tried kills my HW insert or causes nasty distortion in the IEs.

I think I must be doing something wrong in the config.
have you any input?
PT10 under Mavericks.

This is the correct answer.

I was inspired by this thread to try the Loopback trial download, and it IS brilliant. And spendy. So I wrote to Rogue Amoeba to ask whether they had some other clever product for just getting the sound to my AirPods. (Or whether they'd consider a discount for a sincere inquiry...heh).

They suggested their Sound Source app, which is much more affordable and quite clever in its own right.

However, it does not do the trick. Does not show up as a Playback Engine (so that is Loopback's secret... maybe the code-formerly-known-as-Soundflower in there?) and does not talk to PT Aggregate IO.

I'm all ears if somebody knows how SoundSource could work!

Why AirPods? Because I'll be care sitting with my 93-year old mom and would like to get some editing done, while monitoring her. Transparency mode is awesome!

I have dropped another note to the very helpful RA tech support, and I will update after hearing back from them with a solution - $29 bucks if so - or kaffkaff, buying Loopback. Sigh.

Anyone looking for a great free loop back utility, look for Blackhole.

Confirmed, Sound Source will not do the trick, since Pro Tools does not have a default output.

I read about Black Hole and a couple of other open source loopback utilities, but did not have the know-how. Also, commenters said some were buggy or not ready for Catalina.
