Default Garageband to Pro Tools

Hi all,

Dumb singer/songwriter here.

Sometimes I've popped open Garageband for rehearsing with some electric guitar tone and what not only to come up with a cool little demo recorded.

My question is, what's the most proficient/seamless way to turn a Garageband session into a Pro Tools session?

Thanks in advance.

- Jeff

I've never done it, but I would think Export to iTunes, which would place wavs in the iTunes folder which you would then import into PT.

Or I suppose you could open in Logic (if you own it) and then save as an OMF which PT could open.

Hope this helps.

I've done this a few times...

1. I select the track
2. Click "Share"
3. Select "Export Song to Disc"
4. Name the track (Bass, Drums etc.) in the "Save As" box
5. At the bottom I usually select "AIFF"
6. Create a new Folder (so I can find all the exported tracks)
7. "Export"
8. Repeat for each track
9. Import all the audio into a Pro Tools session

And, don't be surprised when all the tracks come into PT as stereo tracks. Its just a little present from GB

How does one select the originating tempo track in GarageBand to download? Or just take notice of the BPM and time signature?

I'm using GarageBand for the first time, and want to be able to collaborate with friends using Pro Tools.

Thank you

This workflow would be on GarageBand for Mac, is that correct? I've done similar on GarageBand for iPad, but with "Merge" function from each selected track, one at a time...
