Default new computer drive swap questions

Currently running pro tools 2020 on a mac 5,1 6 core machine. Just bought a 5,1 12 core machine. Can I just pull out the hard drive from my old machine and pop it in the new one? Is there anything you are aware of that I need to 'uninstall' from my old computer first, software wise? Everything is either licensed to the drive or in the cloud, correct?
Anyone with experience doing this?

You may find a few plugins might require re-authorizing, but it should be an easy move.

Hi,

I placed the same drive into a different computer recently and lost quite a few auths. i think most go by the machine ID not the hard drive.

There might be some that need you to un-auth first, but don't do anything till you've tried.

Cloning the original drive and leaving the clone in the old machine might be enough to be able to un-auth if needed.

If you habe both machines available when you do the switch, you can swap the drive back and forth as long as all machine auths are deactivated on old and activated on new. In this case no need to clone anything. Also remember some iLok licenses may be machine authorized nut that part is easy. Harder to find challenge-response codes
