Default Has Digidesign fixed the all time bug with removable drives yet?

I want to buy v8 but still refuse to invest more money in PT for so many reasons, one of them is i use removable media all the time and i had a few damaged drives thanks to my inpatients to shut down pro tools just to un plug a drive, becuase if pro tools is open it will use every drive you connect and you can not eject them unless you quit, even said you still stuck with some silly folder whether its a pen drive or a SD card, everything.

so has digidesign finally got around to fixing this bug?

you can easily unmount drives when pro tools is open and running. just go into your workspace window and select the drive and hit unmount. done. might wanna do some research before you get upset at problems that dont exist

problem that does not exist, ok so your saying instead of out finder Pro Tools dominates the external drive bus?

So is there a way to stop pro tools from creating those Digidesign Databases folders or make them invisible? that would at least show that digi is up to date its so 80s

To the op: Your user name and the thing you mentioned (which is not a bug). You know, can't stand: Nomen est omen!

8.03 does away with the databases on every drive, they are only on the c: drive and tucked away in a different place. but this has never been a bug or an issue to unmount drives. it takes 12-15 sec to think about it and get the drive unmounted. i do it all the time with flash drives. just an issue of knowing your way around the software, thats all, no biggie.

its actually not that stupid. pro tools has to be in control and have all drives accesible. you can be running audio, streaming samples and video off of say 4 different drives all in the same session. you are actually supposed to use "remove hardware" in windows to pull a drive as well any other time. i have burned up a couple cheap flash drives by not doing it there.

Ok, so you stated a thing (that there is a bug), we proved you wrong. You tell us some other thing, which is not the case anymore.
Now, if this was your biggest problem with pt, you're a happy man.

As the originator and not the imitator, Pro Tools has done some things engineering-wise that I prefer above other DAWS. Two of them are forced real-time operation and direct disk reading/writing. The issue you're whining about is a side-effect of a decision made years ago that helped put Pro Tools on the top of the heap. Direct disk access eliminates a layer of complexity and hopefully assures the best throughput possible.
