I recently bought an avid cloud account in order to be able to save my projects locally, but I don't know where are they storage or how can I find them. Could any body tell me if it is posible, supper told me that it is, but don't tell me how.

Pro Tools First only stores in the cloud, nothing local. If you “bought an account” I assume you’ve just increased the size of your Cloud account. Still nothing will be local.

I thought the same, but when I asked Avid Team they told me that it is like that, but probably they mean something else.

I haven't been in PTF in a while, but when you have the project open, goto File > Save Copy In. Specify the format as Session and that should allow you to save the project locally.

There is no Save in option, just save or export and there is nothing to choose the location

Hello,

I have the same question.
I just started mixing some recordings of a small local band and trying out different DAWs an came across pro tools First.

I also subscribed for the premium plan, because it says on the website that you would be able to save local.

This is what the site says:
* Please note that with Pro Tools | First, you can collaborate freely with anyone who invites you to work on a project, but you will need to purchase an Avid Premium Cloud Plan to initiate an invitation for others to collaborate with you. These premium plans also increase your cloud storage space beyond the 1 GB of free storage that comes with Pro Tools | First and enable you to save projects on a local drive.

But the option save copy in does not appear in the file menu.
Is there a different way to save your work locally or did I misinterpret the text on the site.

kr,
Bart.

Hey all, is there been any update to this with regard to Protools First?

I have a large, separate drive on my laptop (apart from the drive my OS is on) that I was hoping to be my default storage container for my PT files.

According to this thread, you can set this in 'Preferences' in a different version but why not PT First?

Hoping maybe someone has discovered something in an update?

Thanks

As far as my experience goes there is no way to change your pro tools first local sessions folder. I tried to change that last year and became the problem that i could not open my local projects anymore. I contacted this forum and became the answer that Pro Tools First can not open sessions anymore after they are once moved. The only way to get the data back was via Avid Cloud. The files are an your hard disk but there is no way to open them in PTF anymore.

That issue and the fact that i cannot save in .ptx format led me to make a sub to Pro Tools full.

First has been designed to be cloud-based with three project limit. It is called Cloud Collaboration, and that three project limit is not there in paid versions.

The fact that from PTF 2019-6 you can save limitless projects locally makes in my opinion only sense when you are able to choose a seperate drive. Thats not possible for now - maybe in the future.
