Hey, really sorry to hear that. Sounds kinda weird.
First thing that came to my mind was, like SpinningDisk wrote, that you should
determine the exact model of Mac you have.
I tried to open the link you posted to have a look at it but the link was dead.

So, if you could find out the exact data of your Mac this would be important as
then you can be definitely be sure that Leopard Mac 10.5.x is the one to go.
If your Mac was actually made for Snow Leopard Mac 10.6.x it wonīt work with the prior OS Leopard.
Donīt trust the guy you bought it from, better check it out for yourself!
Find the right model ID of yours:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1758?v...E&locale=de_DE
See the specs and the OS it was delivered with:
http://support.apple.com/specs/#imac

You can install a later OS on your Mac but never a prior. Find this out first.

The next thing, if Leopard Mac 10.5.x is the right one, you might have a look at this site,
which may give you some advice/instructions how to do several things:
http://macs.about.com/od/leopard105/...lleopard_2.htm

Also if you actually know how to do it you may read it and check it step by step
as sometimes there are little things we miss. Just to be absolutely sure.

Finally maybe you can post the specs of your Mac here too (Model ID), so we can work with it.

Best, VRW

Another very good step by step guide for a clean install of Mac Leopard:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installi....5+Leopard/751

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=460177

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1544

Just insert the DVD, restart the computer, hold down the 'c' key (another thread says holding the option key
while starting the Mac-you may try which will work for you) after the startup sound,
select your language, click next, select clean install, then OK, wait for Startup Sound again...etc.

But before trying it again, please, check your Macīs model ID!

Cheers, VRW

Can you be sure that it is the real original disk that came with the Mac?
If the Mac was delivered with 10.5.2. and the disk is not the original one
but a retail disk and it is 10.5.0 it will not work either (there are threads
on the web telling about some cases).

Anyway what happened after the grey screen rolled down? Did the disk still run?
How long did you wait? Sometimes it takes quite a long time to get through
all the stuff...
Thatīs what they write here:
...Your Mac will restart and boot from the installation DVD. Restarting from the DVD can take a little while, so be patient...
http://macs.about.com/od/leopard105/...lleopard_2.htm

So maybe you can check the links of my prior postings too as there are little things to mind while the installation
(e.g. which kind of partition type etc.).
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installi....5+Leopard/751

If that doesnīt bring any success either I have one option left which may sound
kinda weird too but would make sense before you pay more at the Apple support:
spend 20.- Dollars to buy a new, original 10.6.0 Snow Leopard Disk from Apple
and try it once again.
1. you will need to get 10.6. Snow Leopard anyway to get LE8 work (wonīt work with Leopard 10.5.x)
2. you can find out if maybe thereīs something wrong with Leopard disk (wrong OS version, broke, whatever)
3. you maybe can save money if it may work with the new disk/OS before
you pay for the Apple support

You only will lose a little bit of time until the Snow Leopard will be delivered,
but you will need this anyway and itīs a chance to get it work before giving it
to Apple and pay more.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC...6-snow-leopard

Installation guide for Snow Leopard 10.6.0 (you can miss 1., start with 2.):
http://guides.macrumors.com/Clean_In...6_Snow_Leopard

This is all I can do at the moment.
I really hope you can get it solved but if thereīs no technical issue with the
Mac, the drive or whatever, it will work sooner or later for sure.

All the best,

VRW

P.S. if you then may have 10.6.0 installed itīs quite easy and quick.
1. update 10.6.0 completely to a fully updated 10.6.8.
2. install the combo update
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?v...S&locale=en_US
3. install LE 8.0.3, then run the LE 8.0.5 updater ... donīt install any extra driver, itīs all included in the LE8 installer!
http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43353
4. connect your 003
5. install any additional stuff (like Factory Bundle stuff, etc.)
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...091?popup=true
6. do the required optimizations for PT on the Mac
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...739?popup=true
7. start making music and have fun

So this should be it.
The very best to you, lots of success,
VRW

Well I managed to get drivers for Mavericks to recognise my 003, and a copy of logic pro x, and guess what? works flawlessly as a zero latency interface. I can't use it as a control surface but I'm OK with that , until I can find a copy of LE, at least now I can use it... The copy of pro tools LE8 I had..... on my thumb drive, was erased. The serial # I have has already been used and can not be used again.... I recorded 3 simultaneous tracks monitored through my PA, it all preformed flawlessly, bit of a learning curve using logic, but I've learned a lot in only a couple of hours. I can see a lot more time being spent in my studio.... Thanks again everyone, for all the input, suggestions, thoughts, and ideas, it's great to know there are really genuine, honest people out there Cheers!
