Input setting help (hardware input 1 wants to be Protools input 5)

Hello,
I'm running an Antelope Orion into a Madiface Pro (via madi) into Protools 2020.

I'm setting up the I/Os and have run into something very confusing.
My Orion input 1 gets signal in the orion software and shows up on channel 1 in the RME totalmix. However, in protools, I have to select Input 5 for Orion's input 1 to get a signal. In general, all inputs are shifted 4 spots.

I tried moving the routing blocks around in the input tab but couldn't get a signal.

Any ideas?

I thought it might be related to the fact that the RME has four analog inputs, which show up as analog while madi inputs show up as madi from 1-64.

Selecting madi input 1 doesn't receive signal but input 5 does.

I'm on an I7 6700k 64gb ram, windows 10, protools 2020, original orion 32, madiface pro.

Hopefully, someone with hands-on experience with this hardware will chime in, but I suspect its due to the 32 IO limit with 3rd party hardware. PT is seeing the 4 analog inputs of the RME as the first 4 of the 32 total inputs(IOW, the Orion inputs 29-32 will not be available).

In this case, I would consider renaming inputs(in the Pro Tools IO Setup) so that 1 thru 4 show as RME 1, RME 2, etc. Then at the 5th input, name as Orion5, Orion6, etc. Now if you wanted to use ONLY the Orion inputs as all 32 inputs, then the Orion would need to be "Audio Engine" in Pro Tools(Hardware Setup). Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any way to choose 32 inputs out of a larger number of available inputs

Thanks, that's what I was suspecting as well.

I tried to move the RME I/Os to be 29-32 so I could at least have the Orion 1-28 align logically. Unfortunately, I couldn't get that to work...not sure why.
I thought it would have been as simple as sliding the I/O "boxes" over in the Input tab to the correct column.

I/O numbers need to be set up outside PT, whatever setup software you may have with your interfaces.
