Default Re: Much slower offline bounce in 2019 vs 2018?

Updated all of my plugins, everything should be up to date. Occasionally I'll get normal speeds, but then it dips ridiculously low. I'm getting speeds like 13x when it used to be consistently above 100-120x, even with other apps opened like Chrome and whatever else I wanted.

Deactivated as in not instantiated in a session or removed from your plugin folder on your HD? Two quite different things.

That’s the thing. Some plugins will severely slow down your bounce times. Basically, the more CPU a plugin consumes, the slower the bounce time.

I can get close to 70-80x bounce speed on a lot of sessions. If I put ONE instance of Soothe in that session with oversampling turned on, it will slow down to 6-8x when doing an offline bounce.

The OP’s issue may not be plugins and something else, but it’s definitely the first place to look. Disk issues could be another. Heck even faulty RAM could cause weird issues.

It’s all well and good to see ‘all I did was update Pro Tools’ but unfortunately, and I’ve seen this happen MANY times, other things have happened at the same time that could cause issues. Computers are extremely complex things.

i mean clicking "deactivate" which has always cleared their cpu suckage and increased bounce speed in the past, before this problem

Deactivating a plugin means the plug is greyed out on mix window. Removing plugin from the system means moving the plugin file to unused folder so PT won't load it to begin with.
