Loop Playback Tips
logic user here new to PT, i work a lot setting loop regions and am having trouble with the PT workflow.
i've set dynamic transport & loop playback, but it's the selection of the loop region i find a bit clumsy.. if you are zoomed in just a little, selecting a region doesn't snap to bars, the precision seems infinite making a quick perfect 4 bar loop selection a drag as it's always a bit off, and there seems to be no way to modify the start/end points of the selected region so you need to re-start until you get it right... frustrating to say the least but perhaps i'm missing a faster approach? |

Are you in grid mode?

Re: Loop Playback Tips
If you are in grid mode then obviously the selection will snap to grid. If the loops start/end are sitting slightly out of the bar , the tempo must be out of sync with what the loop was recorded at.
Try different tempos and compare the loop on the grid as it changes. Bare in mind you can set the grid to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 note etc too.

Re: Loop Playback Tips
i'm in grid mode but the selection is not snapping to grid, the tempo of the loop is perfect and that isn't the problem i just can't get the selection to snap so i must be doing something wrong?!
i'm using the grabber tool, i'm in the upmost section where the bar numbers are indicated, i hold click on say bar 2, move the mouse till bar 4 (the red line follows my move) and if i stop just a millimeter after "4" the selected part will be from bar 2 to bar 4|1 or wherever, it just doesn't snap to the bar unless i'm super zoomed out, only then will it snap (but i like working zoomed in) btw changing the grid to 1/16, 1/8 etc only changes the grid spacing not the snapping of the selection which remains infinite, hope that is clear! |
