Default Newbie question - How to disable Hyper-Threading

Hey folks,
I've been browsing this forum for a while but its sorta hard to understand the stuff because I've never been into recording before. I recently got a Digi 001 and have so far followed all the setup rules. The only thing I don't know how to do is bring up the BIOS to disable Hyper-Threading. And obviously, before I do this, I can't record. Can anyone help me?

Also, can anyone tell me what drawbacks I might have with the following setup:

Intel 3.06 Ghz 533 FSB Pentium IV with Hyper Threading Technology processor (not Celeron)
Intel Extreme Graphics
80Gb hard drive 7200RPM
CDRW/DVD Combo Drive
1.44mb Floppy drive
512mb 333mhz RAM
Dell 56k data/fax/voice modem
Built-in Ethernet networking card
6 USB 2.0
Microsoft Intellimouse 2 button wheel mouse
Dell standard keyboard

Thanks for helping out a complete beginner!
Joe

Welcome to the DUC

Usually you'd enter BIOS setup with Delete key when your computer first powers on or reboots, but "some" OEM computers such as Compaq, HP and Dell's have custom BIOS's and change this to one of the Function buttons, read this link Entering the BIOS Setup Program, If none of this helps you should seek support from the manufacturer of this computer.

If you're using 6.4, you don't necessarily need to disable HT. You just won't get any benefit in PT.

I had major crashes when using the wave driver or the asio driver under 6.4 with hyperthreading enabled. Disabling hyperthreading has prevented the crashes, however there are still pauses when using the wav driver

I see by your system specs that you only have one hard drive. I highly recommend that you add a second drive asap. If you are on a tight budget, buy a 30 gig drive for all your apps and use the 80 for audio. Trying to run everything on a single drive will limit your fun.
