how do u assign midi conrtoller to plugin parameter?

I have a controller keyboard with those midi programmble controller knobs. How do I go about assigning it to a plugin parameter? or virtual synth ie virus?

Although I don't think that you will be able to control parameters of the Virus plug-in, you can define the knobs on your Controller to that of a standard MIDI Control Surface Profile (such as the CS10)...this information is available in Appendix A of the MIDI Control Surfaces Guide.

-You can then set Pro Tools to "see" the standard controller in the Peripherals dialog, and Pro Tools will follow the incoming MIDI data from the knob(s).

You can control the Virus in the same way as a hui does however because there is no way of knowing which knob does what it then becomes slightly confusing. Ihe way i have done it using my K2600 is to find out which control numbers are needed for the faders, plugins and bank switches this is all i set up will post the numbers when i get home (at work at the moment).
