Vocal recording issues in p.t9
Sorry for starting a new thread if this has been covered before, but I'm new here so...
First up; hi, hej, yasou, bonjour, gutentag etc - I'm Peasey and I'm relatively inexperienced in recording, but learning more each day and loving the process of it! My bizarre problem with just one track I've been working on goes like this; I recorded my vocal as a mono track and it's on output 1&2, which is fine. But then I came to record a female singers vocal on the same song and for some reason my vocal tracks are appearing on her tracks - I can't figure it out, so I was hoping someone out there could tell me what stupid basic error I must have made... Both vocals were recorded the same way; through my M-Box into my macbook with Pro Tools M-Powered 9 and nothing was done any different to how it's been done and worked before, new mono vocal track, input 1, output 1&2, record. Then hearing it back trying to mix things, the other vocal shows up! I know I went on a bit, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible. Hope some of you can help on this one as it's never happened before and I don't see why it would - the headphones didn't bleed into the recording, I didn't have record enabled on the other tracks when recording her, I didn't bus my vocal track to hers in some stupid error or anything utterly dumb like that... |

Re: Vocal recording issues in p.t9
not easy to tell from far...maybe, you are sending your vocal track to an insert, which is by mistake returned to both vocal tracks ?
But having said that, in that case your female vocal input would be interrupted. Is your vocal still on her channel, if you mute it ?

Re: Vocal recording issues in p.t9
It's very odd because there is literally nothing like that going on, I've got everything set up right...
If I mute all of the vocals I sang it is just her, then I solo her voice and there I am? Really strange. Thinking it might just be some sort of glitch and I'm gonna try importing the individual tracks into a new project and see if it still does it. |

Re: Vocal recording issues in p.t9
Sounds like you 'Solo Safed' one of your vocal tracks.

Re: Vocal recording issues in p.t9
Hi, here is a link explaining solo safe and how to turn it on and off.
If this is the problem you have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-vJ1...eature=related Solo safe is mostly used to mark a track so it does NOT mute. Its used mostly when you have individual tracks that are bussed together to as a group ( example, drum tracks, kick, snare, toms, overheads, hats, cymbals etc all bussed to one stereo Drum bus. You would solo safe the individual tracks and control the solo/mute on the group buss channels, not the individual channels. Perhaps you have your vocal track solo safe. Then it will continue to be heard, even if the track was muted as AfterJohn said. Chris

Re: Vocal recording issues in p.t9
Look at all your solo buttons and see if there is one grayed out. If you find one grayed out it is on solo safe.

Re: Vocal recording issues in p.t9
Oh right, that could easily be the case. Maybe, you were accidently holding the apple key, while clicking on a solo button. Didn't think about that.
